Justin Sayer (Brad Renfro) suffers from a mental illness which causes vivid hallucinations. The voices in his head have caused him to isolate himself from the world and from his two year old son. After several unsuccessful attempts by visiting therapist to cure him, Justin attempts to hide his illness from a new therapist. This therapist is unlike the others.

Paris. Alise is awakened by a telephone call. A few hours later, while she was supposed to be covering a sport event on the Atlantic coast, she finds herself lost in a maritime nature reserve. Disabled artist Nancy Willis is in search of a home for her much loved, but aging car - the Elswick Envoy. This unique small car was designed to be driven directly from a wheelchair. Launched in the early 1980's only two hundred were ever made. Nancy's distinctive red version is one of the last survivors of this rare breed. As she prepares to take possession of an ultramodern adapted Renault, Nancy sets out on a mission to ensure that her Elswick will not vanish without trace from motoring history. In this personal road movie, Nancy can see her own struggle for continuing mobility mirrored in the increasingly unreliable performance of her battered old car. This witty and moving film is a fitting tribute and final farewell to a distinguished old friend.

Even in My Dreams is a variant of the 'coming-of-age genre,' but it otherwise departs dramatically from the conventional. In this sparely drawn psycho-drama the protagonist is anything but the usual confused teenager prone to alternating fits of sexual excitement and histrionics in dealing with the first sparks of sexual awakening. Michael, an elderly, world-worn widower, in his pattern of mundane daily urban meanderings, happens upon a Tom of Finland doll in a sex shop display window. His bemused subconscious fascinationwith the erotic doll is the trigger for a belated and reluctant sexual self-discovery at the end of a lifetime of sexual repression. A series of dreams and stream-of-consciousness vignettes moves Michael from surprise to hope to love affair ending in violence and betrayal.
